Commuter car parking access study with assessment of future land use and local network upgrades. The Lindfield Town Centre microsimulation model was developed to inform both the Activate Lindfield project and TfNSW’s Transport Access Program for providing a 240 space commuter car parking the vicinity of Lindfield rail station.
Working collaboratively with PeopleTrans, TMA developed, calibrated and validated Commuter microsimulation models of the existing situation and obtained RMS approvals and developed future demands that reflected a number of alternative future land use scenarios and access arrangements within the town centre. The models were used to optimise and refine potential Local Area Traffic Management schemes in light of anticipated developments and through traffic background growth. Models were shown at public exhibition to demonstrate local traffic and pedestrian issues. This work was delivered to agreed fees and after model calibration to agreed timeframes. Calibration of Commuter model proved more difficult than standard microsimulation models due to the need for pedestrian network to reflect parking choice.
